Detention lifted in Panama mass poisoning case
Panama’s Committee of Relatives and Victims for the Right to Health and Life mourned on Wednesday a court decision to lift the order of preventive detention against Gaten Theophilus.
He is being investigated over mass poisoning with diethylene glycol in Panama that resulted in the deaths of at least 156 people
The Detention was replaced by prohibition on leaving the country, having to report twice a month to the authorities.
The court’s decision is sad and disappointing, said the committee member.
On 7 September, committee members will meet with officials of the Attorney General to determine progress of investigations.
