Government coalition could be threatened: Moscoso
Former President Mireya Moscoso said Friday, September 10, that there is "trouble" within the Panameñista party, and the discord could threaten the coalition that swept to power in the last election.
"There is some discomfort within the Panameñista party." she said
The former president explained that the problems are due to several members of the party having waited for five years to return to power, but have been excluded from power even after supporting the "Alliance for Change."
But Moscoso says she does not think the problems are serious enough to stop party members from supporting Vice President Juan Carlos Varela, who also heads Panameñista Party, if he makes a run for the presidency in the next election.
