Panama City delays date of higher license plate charges

The Panama City Council has done a flip flop on the introduction  of an increase  in the license plate tax, scheduled for January 1.

On Tuesday, December 28) It acted  on a proposal from Mayor Bosco Vallarino to delay the increase until March 1 who “to allow more time for the public to receive orientation regarding the tax adjustments”.

The new system means  that the tax will be set  based on  the value of the vehicle at the time of registration. The more you pay for the car, the more you will pay for your plates.

Buyers of used cars will pay tax according to the value of the vehicle at the time it was registered with the municipality, say some reports.
