The municipal team headed by the stumbling mayor,  lost control of garbage collection after failing to satisfy the government on the city’s ability to cope, is refusing to meet with the new waste management authority AAUD.

Enrique Ho Fernández who heads the body , is looking for greater cooperation from municipalities to address the country's garbage woes.
He said that there needs to be a collective effort that transcends political lines. Specifically he was referring  Panama City’s municipality, which after nearly two months has failed to meet with him.
The agency,   he said,is "in crisis mode," and the priority needs to be stabilizing  garbage collection and there needs to be a campaign to get people to properly dispose of garbage within the city to enable a faster pick up.
