Police checks ahead for outdated license plates

If you haven’t updated your car license plate by month end, you could have your car impounded and be hit with a $50 fine.

Starting Tuesday, March 1, the National Police will begin setting up check points to catchcars that do not have their up-to-date plates.

Motor vehicle registry director Nicolás Brea says an estimated 10,000 vehicles in the Panama and San Miguelito are currently circulating with expired license plates.
So the word is “get cracking”, but with only a few days ago, expect long line ups when you join the rest of the  defaulters.

In the meantime drivers are off tre hook until June 1, with the ongoing saga of the new accident forms that have to be carried in the vehicle and completed by those involved in a non-injury collision.
