Another front against Panama monster of evil
The Front Against Mining Santeña says it will defend in the streets by whatever means it deems appropriate to defend the sovereign right of natural resources.
The warning came came in reaction to a statement from Vice Minister of Commerce and Industry, Ricardo Quijano, that mining at Minera Cerro Quema, located between the districts and Tonosí Macaracas in the province of Los Santos, will resume in 2012.
The anouncement was made, says the group when the ink had not yet dried on an executive order suspending mining in Ngäbe-Bugleareas where changes in the mining laws have lit the fuse of social conflicts in the province of Los Santos.
The group has maintained its opposition to mining in the area since 1997, have been adamant in demanding the closure of “that monster of evil.”
