Murcia sentencing delayed for second time

David Murcia Guzmán, the convicted criminal alleged to have made large donations to the Martinelli election campaign, has had his sentencing hearing in the U.S, delayed for a second time.

The new date has been set as June 20 when he is expected to be sentenced to nine years imprisonment for laundering profits from drug deals while running a pyramid scheme

 A spokesman for prosecutors refused to comment on why the hearing was again set back. The first time was on May 9, three days after a plea deal was reached.
 
Murcia Guzmán is expected to be sentenced to nine years in prison for money laundering drug profits. He could have faced up to 20 years in prison, but those familiar with the American legal system believe the deal was reached after he agreed to supply information to prosecutors.

He has already been, sentenced to 30 years and eight months in jail  by a Colombian judge where he got swift justice in 2008   for running a pyramid scheme that defrauded thousands of investors in countries throughout Latin America, He had been arrested in Panama only weeks before.
