Mass measles immunizarion in Colon Free Zone
After Panama recorded its first cases of measles in 14 years, the Ministry of Health moved to immunize 4,000 people working in the Colon Free Zone.
The move was a precautionary measure because people from many parts of the world travel to the Zone said Aurelio Pineda, regional director of the ministry.
The cases that developed in Panama were among travelers recently returned from Europe. The ministry launched a campaign to immunize anyone who
may have been exposed to the illness, particularly children.
