Good news for car salesmen, bad for drivers

Panama’s highways were loaded with another 32,720 new vehicles in the first nine months of the year.

They are an addition to the  existing  650,000 units operating throughout the country.

Most of the new cars will run on the already saturated metropolitan streets that cater to  450 000 vehicles battling  major construction projects.

The year's sales are expected to pass 44,000 units, at a time when traffic is nearing gridlock, with authorities struggling to find solutions, but they, and President Ricardo Martinelli, have warned that things will get even worse in the next two years, and they are calling for driver patience.

It;s not only good news for car salemen, but also owners of gas stations as idling in traffic drives up full consumption.
