Water authority boss raises Martinellis ire
The latest director of Panama’s water and sewage systems (Idaan) may be getting closer to the fate of his predecessor who resigned in the face of a storm of protest over water cut offs over six weeks at the end of 2010.
President, Ricardo Martinelli, fired the first shots on Monday, November 7, in Aguadulce ,Cocle, when referring to the water problem in Panama City "I am not satisfied with the work of the director of Inac, [Abdiel Cano] because there are many complaints about the service."
According to Martinelli, the execution of Idaan has been very poor. He added that this is not a question of resources, since "this is a capacity problem and there is a management problem in there."
Given this situation, the President said: "I'm going to have to meet with the Idaan board of directors to take the corrective measures."
Meanwhile, Idaan spokeswoman, Mara Rivera, told La Prensa the authority would not be making any comment on the statements of the Panamanian leader
