Judges will be older,more experienced, and stay longer

Major changes to the qualifications and tenure of Panama judges have been put forward  by a committee studying constitutional reform.

 Th changes include  an an entry age of 45 years or more, an increase of 10 years,  and have 15 years experience as a lawyer, and be specialized in the area that is assigned.
The amount of years that a judge will remain in office would be  20, 10 more than currently set.
A spokesman said that other changes will be established through constitutional status fixing  the number of judges of the Court at  12 so that the number of judges will not vary with the political whims. The methodology of selection of judges is pending discussion.
