Dj vu for Panamas water supply
Panama city is again suffering from water problems that led to weeks of shortages through the end of 2010 and residents have been advised to boil murky water.
The reason is the same – water turbidity forcing the treatment plant at Chilibre to close. Minister of Health, Franklin Vergara, said Monday said discussions are underway on courses of action to be taken before the problem of water grows. Last year thousands of citizens had to rely on deliveries by truck.
Last weekend the Chilibre treatment plant temporarily suspended its operations.while the Ministry of Health (MoH) met with officials of the Water and Sewage authority (Idaan) to address the issue. Schools were closed Monday
"The turbidity is high and for security we recommend boiling water," said Vegara.
