Panama traffic accidents, deaths, injuries fall

Traffic accidents in Panama, with a population around 3.2 million fell to 12,000 in 2011.

Teofilo Moreno, National Police Traffic Operations Director said on TVN News that last year there was a 47% decrease compared to 2010, a percentage that was described by as "very positive." 

There was also a 10% decrease 10% in fatalities and a  28%  reduction  in  minor injuries .

Moreno said 50,000 speeding tickets and  5,000 drunk driving  tickets were issued..
