11 areas of Panama city damaged by heavy rain
Heavy rain late on Friday, May 18 left eleven areas of Panama City seriously affected, according to preliminary records of the National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc).
The agency recorded landslides, collapsed walls, flooding and fallen trees. Sinaproc staff moved to the affected areas during Saturday morning to see first hand the situation of those affected.
Javier Castillo, head of Sinaproc operations that they could not determine the number of houses or how badly personswere affected as residens were reluctant to let investigators into their homes, but at least 10 homes were flooded, adding to 25 previously flooded. San Miguelito was particularly hard hit.
