Citizens Assembly concerned with “irrationality of power”
The Fifth Citizens' Assembly held in Panama Saturday, May 19, views with concern “the dynamics of absolute irrationality occurring in the exercise of power by the authorities.
University professor Miguel Antonio Bernal said that the assembly discussed social, political and economic issues.
“In addition to the situation that the health unions are facing the meeting discussed issues such as the postponement of the discussion of electoral reform, and the "subjugation" of the Legislature to the Executive and the creation of the so-called Sovereign Wealth Fund.

The Citizens' Assembly, which will reconvene on July14 is made up of the Ethical Consumer Association, the Center for Popular Legal Assistance, the Center for Research and Child Care, the National College of Journalists (Conape), the Commission for Justice and Peace, National Council of Private Enterprise (Conep), the Foundation for Citizen Freedom and Development, and the Institute of Criminology at the University of Panama. Also part of the movement is the National Union of Lawyers, the Center for Panamanian and Social Action, the Federation of Associations of Panama Professionals, the Autonomous General Confederation of Workers The Research Center for Human Rights and Legal Aid of Panama, the Panamanian Association of Constitutional Law, the National Bar Association The Lawyers Unionist Movement (MAG), the Center for Environmental Advocacy (CIAM), the National Network to Support Children and Adolescents in Panama as well as independent members. The assembly will reconvene on July 14 .
