Panama taking steps to fix sidewalks, underground parking

Panama is finally making a move to improve it’s sidewalks  and open underground parking says city mayor Roxana Mendez

She has announced that this year $1.5 million  will be spent to implement the program of improvements to sidewalks and pavements of the capital.

The project is aimed   at areas where Metro Bus and Metro stations will b e located.

She also reported that at the end of June bids will be called for, for underground parking. "We must encourage the private sector to do more parking," he added.

Mendez's remarks came during a  planning forum organized by the Panamanian Association of Business Executives.

Monforte Valentin, president of the transport planning of the Panamanian Association, stressed the need for sidewalks because 80% of the population have no car.
