Citizens win battle to stop construction of Supreme Court garage
Citizen Power appears to have won a major battle in its fight against the building of a parking garage in a treed area near the Supreme Court.
The presiding judge of the Supreme Court of Justice(CSJ) Alejandro Moncada Luna, announced on Tuesday, January 29, that he will ask the Corcione company, responsible for building the parking garage for the state agency to suspend the resumption of work.
Moncada Luna said that in the coming the Fourth Chamber of the Supreme Court will make a decision to terminate the contract with Corcione, responsible for building parking lots for the judiciary.
He added that although the residents have their point it is also true that the Supreme Court needs to have parking lots built
He stressed that he as president of the Supreme Court had inherited the project that came from two previous administrations.
The announcement followed The decision took Moncada Luna after a meeting between the city the CSJ and the Federation of Communities of Reverted Areas.
Sandra Tapia, a member of the Federation of Communities of Reverted Areas, announced that they reached an agreement with the Supreme Court of Justice, and had committed to helping them find another option for parking, and that it was "necessary".
