Transit authority boss axed by Martinelli
President Ricardo Martinelli demanded the resignation of Ventura Vega, the director of the transit authority (ATTT) on Monday, February 25.
The axe fell after problems earlier in the day with students' passes for rides on Metro buses on the first day of classes. Vega's resignation followed soon after the demand.
According to Martinelli, the request was based on Vega's decision that led to problems The president said that he will not stand for ineptitude within his administration.
Martinelli also said he is considering asking for the resignation of Authority of Aquatic Resources Administrator Giovanni Lauri Carreti. However says La Prensa, he did not clarify why he would aks for that resignation, only saying that officials should follow the law and think of the benefit to the people.
On the other hand, Martinelli said he has not named replacements for ministers Rómulo Roux and Frank De Lima, who have stepped down to run in the CD presidential primaries
