Chiriqui: four quakes unsettle locals

Residents of Chiricana in Chiriqui province are getting nervous after a fourth earthquake was recorded on Sunday afternoon, April 7, 59 kilometers from David.

It recorded 4.3 on the Richter scale, and had been preceded by three other shocks in the morning, registering, 4.0, 4.7 and 4.9 degrees on the Richter scale.
 The Institute of Geosciences at the University of Panama, said the first quake was felt at 10:32 a.m. and the second was reported at 10:37 a.m. The epicenters were northeast of Puerto Armuelles, with depths of 10 kilometers and 20 kilometers, respectively.

Those two quakes were followed by a quake – with a magnitude of 4.0 on the Richter scale 12:01 p.m. with its epicenter 12 kilometers northwest of Puerto Armuelles. It had a depth of 25 kilometers. No damage has been reported.
