Continuing bonds of friendship with Venezuela – Martinelli
PRESIDENT Ricardo Martinelli has sent his congratulations to the President-elect of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro and wishes him luck in managing Venezuela.
Maduro was declared the winner of Sunday's election with 50.7 of the votes cast. Since then here have been a demand for a recount, and protests and demonstrations, in which seven people have been killed
"I have the desire to continue working together with you to keep the bonds of friendship and cooperation that have traditionally existed between Panama and Venezuela intact," said the note.
Maduro is the successor to the deceased President Hugo Chávez.. His opponent, Henrique Capriles, has asked for a recount. The country is on edge due to the small margin of victory.
