Illegal construction alleged in Costa del Este

MAYOR Roxana Méndez has been called upon  to suspend ”illegal” construction in Costa del Este.

Municipal Council Member Javier Ortega said Wednesday, May 8: "We have detected illegal construction that is underway and when the rainy season starts, it may affect communities."
He urged Mayor Roxana Méndez and Municipal Engineer Juan Manuel Vásquez to take action in the matter.
"The communities are complaining, and we want people to understand that this is not the fault of the council, we are not allowing this sort of thing," Ortega said. "Citizens should know that it is the responsibility of the engineer to suspend any work."
Ortega said that the work violates the law that requires the approval of the municipal representative to remove any trees or alter any land.
Any unapproved projects should be suspended, he said.
