Arias steamrollers his way to CD presidential candidate
JOSE DOMINGO ARIAS is the winner of the Democratic Change (CD) presidential primary held this Sunday, May 12.
The former Minister of Housing and Land scored a wide victory over his closest opponent Romulo Roux and Giselle Burillo, with nearly 70% of the total vote.
Arias. 47, is an economist and worked at Modern Industries, manufacturer of Caprice lingerie a company he and other entrepreneurs founded.
After hearing the preliminary results both Roux and Burillo recognized the Arias victory and pledged to work for the presidential candidate towards the election on May 4 2014.
"We are here today to say that we believe in the unity of the party." said former Chancellor Roux.
He added that a force was established among his supporters whichwill continue to work over the country to achieve victory in the elections.
Giselle Burillo, a distant third place in the polling , said "In politics some win and others lose."
Meanwhile, Guillermo Ferrufino, Social Development Minister, who supported Arias, said that unity is the key for the ruling group.
