One dead 19 injured in multi car accident

ONE PERSON was killed and 19 injured after a multiple vehicle accident on the highway leading to Panama and Centenario Bridge on Tuesday May 21.

The accident happened shortly after 4 p.m. Reports from survivors indicate that traffic was held up by an earlier collision between two delivery vans and a truck carrying gravel, lost its brakes and was unable to stop and ploughed through waiting cars , tossing them aside like toys.
Television footage showed car scattered in roadside ditches with one car near the center meridian totally wrecked.
A doctor who struggled to help a badly injured man was in tears as he waited for an ambulance to arrive. “I’ve lost him. I’ve lost him” he cried.
Four of the injured survivors were described as having serious injuries
Fire trucks and rescue units responded to the accident. which caused long delays on the highway during rush hour.
Police said two delivery vans collided while heading toward Panama City. They then collided with a truck carrying gravel, which lost its brakes, colliding with several other vehicles.
The gravel fell on the highway, but has not blocked the lanes leading to the interior.
