Joint Spain-Panama program to aid indigenous areas

A $28.4 MILLION program to improve water and sanitation service in rural and indigenous areas will be jointly funded by Spain and Panama.

The project will directly benefit 33,811 people living in Guna Yala, the Darién and the Comarca Ngöbe-Buglé.

The agreement will be signed and delivered on Monday by the Ambassador of Spain in Panama, Jesús Silvav and Panama’s Minister of Health Javier Dí¬az.

The program will provide the infrastructure to guarantee the population access to drinking water and sanitation in their communities, which currently do not have this service.
