Car drives into protesting hospital staff

A WOMAN  BMW DRIVER accelerated into a group of hospital protestors on Friday, June 21,and drove off with two police officers clinging to the car.

Staff from the Institute of Mental Health were on Avenida Jose Agustin Arango demonstrating against  the possible closure of the facility.

The incident came after women demonstrators, blocked the car’s passage. Without saying a word, the driver accelerated although two National Police officers were hanging onto the vehicle.
The event was captured on video and when the car stopped the woman was arrested.
Juana Herrera, coordinator of the Center for Addiction Research and Treatment at the institute, they had decided to close the road after it became known that an expert committee had recommended closure of the center to the Ministry of Health.
