Judge denies intervention in brokerage scandal
SUPREME COURT Judge,Jose Ayu Prado has denied having intervened in the case of Financial Pacific (FP) or in a judicial proceeding while serving as Attorney General.
His reaction came after publications by La Prensa, based on new revelations of Mayte Pellegrini, thr principal accused of a fraud of about $14 million in the FP brokerage.
The judge on Thursday, July, 4 sent a letter, personally, to this day. And although the letter refers to FP it avoided mentioning Pellegrini’s name.
Earlier statements by Pellegrini alleged the increased intrusion of the judiciary for allegedly favoring the president, Ricardo Martinelli.
From the Women's Rehabilitation Centre she said: "It was a mounted show ".
She said she first retracted statements that linked President Martinelli with the alleged manipulation of the stock market with shares of Petaquilla Minerals, because she was promised her freedom and that of her family involved in the case.
"My retraction was written by [Ricardo] Ricki Solis and Jose Ayu Prado. None of what I said was out of my mouth, but theirs. Even when it was done , I had to go back and re-sign because they had forgotten something." Yesterday, Pellegrini reaffirmed her story.
