Ombudsperson has 48 hours to answer fresh questions
A NEW QUESTIONNAIRE to be answered in less than 48 hours has been prepared for Panama’s embattled Ombudsperson by the National Assembly Credentials Committee.
The Committee will decide the fate of Patria Portugal who will have to appear with her answers on Wednesday July 24.
The committee chairman Mario Miller, said that Portugal will be cited at 10:00 am, on Wednesday. "We will open a period of discussion where the defender can answer all the questions," he said.
The nine members of the body have five days to issue a conclusion to the full Assembly. Sergio Galvez reminded deputies that he hopes the matter can be completed by Friday without the Ombudsperson being cited for the second time by the Assembly, because of alleged contract overruns.
Regarding the insistence of the opposition deputies that other directors or ministers should be called before the Assembly,, Galvez said that "until the Patria Portugal matter is resolved I do not see fit to cite other officials."
