Villamonte surfaces in new titling investigation

ANABELLE VILLAMONTE, former director of the National Authority of Land Management (Anati) whose name was front and center in land scandals in Patilla and Juan Hombron is involved in another titling case.

She was acquitted in both previous cases but a new file has been opened on her and four others in an investigation involving land acquisition in Punta Chame.

The Sixth Criminal Court authorized the seizure, of a 9381 square meters plot of land, located on the seafront in Punta Chame, as part of an investigation into alleged irregularities in the titling of the farm benefiting Puntabeach Interprises, SA
In ruling on July 19, the sixth criminal judge, George Brown, ordered the seizure after a request made in 2012 by the then Attorney's Office, Jose Ayu Prado, now Supreme Court Justice.

However, the deputy judge of the Criminal Division, Luis Mario Carrasco, on June 13 Ayu Prado’s request to the Sixth Court.
The Second Circuit Prosecutor opened a new file for ttling offenses against the public by former director of the National Authority of Land Management (Anati) Anabelle Villamonte, and four other people.
Puntabeach Interprises, S.A. was established on June 23, 2011 by Marcelino Ramos Madrid, who served as attorney for the family of former Minister of the Presidency Demetrio Papdimitriu. Ramos Madrid was also a director and treasurer of this society.

While the Juan Hombron scandal was in the news Papadimitriu resigned his government post without giving a reason. Villamonte had been working for the Papadimitriu family.
Villamonte at one time was held in jail, and then banned from leaving the country and obliged to report to the prosecution on th 15th of each month.
