Sweetheart deals for company close to presidential candidate
ANOTHER contract scandal is slowly being unveiled as details of sweetheart awards to a company directed by the sister- in law of A float for the Christmas Parade 2011 was awarded to the company Chateau Design $29 986, $ 14 less than the reference price of the Social Security Fund (CSS).
This is one of the 37 CSS contracts audited by the Comptroller General May and June, detecting alleged "irregularities" in the awards made by the now former secretary general of the CSS Doris Arias for Chateau Design.
This company also benefited with a direct contract for more than $15,000 by the former Minister of Housing José Domingo Arias.
Among the findings in the CSS investigation it mentioned that Chateau benefited from same day purchase orders. Media attempts to get more information from the director of the Social Security Fund, Guillermo Sáez-Llorens, got no answer.
