Infastructure deficit poses urban chaos

TWO OF Panama’s high end communities, Punta Pacifica and Paitilla, already notorious for constant flooding and traffic congestion are heading for bigger problems,

Both areas are targeted for new construction that would put more weight on their already weak urban infrastructure reports La Prensa.

At the end of the first quarter of this year, San Francisco saw the construction of 23,295 square meters of new projects which include, in most cases, residential towers. There are another 131,219 square meters coming, according to the Comptroller's Office.
The impressive expansion, in most of the 23 districts of the district of Panama, is the prelude to a future explosion. A filling of 40 hectares opposite the ATLAPA convention center will double the size of Punta Pacifica.
Experts warn of looming urban chaos because of limited public infrastructure to meet new developments.
