Panama picks up 2nd win in PanAm baseball tourney
PANAMA recorded a second victory at the Pan American Baseball Under 21 championships by defeating Nicaragua 6-2, but the team cannot rest on its laurels says the team manager.
The win came thanks to the good work of three pitchers and timely hitting.
Manager Meron Isthmian Rodrigo feels satisfied with the performance, but the defense needs to do a better job.
Panama got on the scoreboard when a double, from Johan Camargo ,produced a double at the top of the third inning.
In the fourth, Panama extended the lead with a homer to right field by Rodrigo Orozco and another run from Camargo on a fielder's choice making the score 4-0 .
In the sixth inning , Gerald Chin fired a double to bring in Orozco. Agapito Barrios the bPanamanian starter pitched six scoreless innings, gave up a walk and struck out eight Nicaraguans.
Abdiel Velasquez relieved him in the seventh. Nicaragua hit oner run in the eighth inning against Velasquez, who pitched two innings . Hector Vega was asked to throw the ninth when Nicaragua got its second run.
Panama closed the match with another run in the ninth.
