Panama bomberos rush to help fight massive Colon fire
FIRE UNITS, from Panama City rushed to Colon late Friday, November 8 , to help local brigade fire to fight a massive, out of control fire.
The blaze in a textile company in the France Field area of Colon was reported at 8.40 pm. All of Colon’s fire fighters were brought to the scene and there was a quick call for assistance fto the capital city as teams fought to stop the flames reaching neighboring wineries and other businesses,
Captain Angel Delgado , a member of the Panama Fire Department (CBP ) told Prensa.com :"At this time the fire is out of control”
He said that the red shirts in the area have reported deficiencies in the water supply sector , so that we evaluate the possibility of using sea water to pour more water on the fire .
National Police agents , Red Cross personnel , and the Civil protection agency, (Sinaproc) were at the scene to assist in cordoning off the area and to ensure the safety of those working to smother the fire .
As a security measure the electricity in the area was suspended.
