946 women sexually violated in 7 months

IN ONLY seven months this year. 946 women in Panama, aged from 1-17 were victims of sexual violation than and another 110 were sexually harassed.

The figures come from a press release issued by15 organizations dedicated to the protection of women.

The organizations expressed their total rejection of the sexual assault and abuse, to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against women,
The groups got their figures from reports of the Statistics Center of the Public for the first seven months of the year, and do not include unreported assaults.
Rubiela Sanchez of the Panamanian Association for Family Planning, said the document is a call to the Executive to promote laws to benefit women.
It also urged the Ministry of Education to provide space in both public schools and in schools for parents to openly discuss open sexuality as a form of prevention and protection.
