ENVIRONMENT: Scientists meet in Panama on water and climate change
MANAGING water resources during climate changes will be the focus of a three day Panama conference of scientists from Latin America and the Caribbean.
They will attend a workshop organized by the International Center for Development Research ( IDRC ) and the Water Center for the Humid Tropics of Latin America and the Caribbean ( Cathalac ) Centre in the City of Knowledge. During the meeting a report on the progress of six research projects on water resources and adaptation to climate change , and how it will meet the needs of decision makers will be presented and discussed.
The projects were carried out in the Caribbean Islands , Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Panama.
The Panama meeting will attempt to make progress in the coordination of these efforts.
The conference has been positioned as part of the investment that governments and international organizations are making evaluate and plan the national adaptation to the impacts of climate change , particularly regarding water.
