Metro Bus operators facing $20,000 a day fine for poor performance
SLACK SERVICE is putting Mi Bus, operators of the Metro Bus system, in danger of $600,000 a month in fines says Panama’s Transit Authority ATTT.
Mi Bus has not reached the optimum point of operation says the authority in planning to jack up the fine.
Tthis means says Director General Roberto Moreno, who said that with the increase of the penalty for non – frequency – buses, the daily fine would be approximately $20,000.
Moreno said that the implementation of the sanction will be decided after the results of the latest gauging done to evaluate the performance of the Metro Bus, due on Monday, December 30.
Until last July, the fine imposed against Mi Bus was around $11 148 dollars a day, after a warning that it was still not providing the 100% required service.
On the penalty also kept the company in charge of the probe distribution, sale and recharge cards for Metro Bus, the director of the ATTT reiterated that the service has improved and that the company conducted a review of the fine through a legal ruling.
