Panama must remain neutral in foreign affairs – VP candidate

AS PRESIDENT Ricardo Martinelli named his fifth Foreign Minister in the last four years, the Vice Presidential candidate for the Popular and Panameñista parties coalition, said that Panama must strengthen its international policy and "build bridges as a neutral country.”

Martinelli has taken sides in a territorial dispute between China and Japan, and offered verbal support to other countries involved in confrontations.

Isabel De Saint Malo was speaking on Sunday, February 2, when she participated in a walk with members of the Popular Party, in the district of La Chorrera, presenting the proposed Alliance government platform.
The candidate also said that the neutrality of Panama had for years been its greatest strength in international relations, which, she said, "must be rescued."
But De Saint Malo avoided comment on the way the five were selected foreign ministers re selected during the current government’s reign
