Snooper computer data base to be amended

A COMPUTER database for CD candidate José Domingo Arias has been altered to remove information that had troubled some observers.

The site www.josedomingoarias.org, created by a company with a Florida address in August 2013, provided data on the political affiliations of citizens, whether they worked for the government and whether they received any benefits from social programs.

This data has been removed and replaced with information about CD members, their families and acquaintances reports La Prensa.
The purpose of this system, according to campaign sources, is to assemble a network of sympathizers of the Arias campaign.
Arias campaign director José Muñoz said on Monday that he is investigating the issue and expects to have more details in the course of the day.
PRD vice presidential candidate Gerardo Solís called the electronic system created by the CD "unconstitutional and illegal."
According to Solis, a former Electoral Court judge, the creation of the database violates the political rights of citizens.
"The electoral prosecutor [Eduardo Peñaloza] must take care of this matter," he said.
