Metro Bus operators deny driver crisis

MI BUS THE OPERATOR of Panama’s troubled Metro bus system has denied a crisis over the supply of  drivers

Mi Bus,Operations Director Raúl Roa said that the company, like all companies, has struggled to find qualified operators due to the country's low unemployment rate, but says that all positions have been filled. "We have made great efforts and we have completed the payroll," he explained.

Roa said that the company has a training facility that is constantly producing new drivers.
More than 2,900 drivers have been hired, which was the number mandated by the government reports La Prensa
The company has taken measures to improve service, with the latest step being to install cameras on board buses to see how routes can be made more efficient.
