Independent voting group plumps for Varela

A GROUP of independent voters have announced that they have decided to support the presidential candidacy of Juan Carlos Varela and Isabel Saint Malo.

The group, called "Movin'," said Tuesday, March 11 that they will back the ticket, which represents the Panameñista party and Partido Popular,believing that it best represents the values and democratic principles of the country.

The group includes notable figures such as Federico Humbert, Obaldia Themistocles, Alfredo Motta, Juan Antonio Tejada, Ana Pérez Mackenzie, Ricardo Zubieta, Augusto Arosemena, Miky Fábrega, Ricardo Ramírez Noris Ramírez, among others.
The announcement comes after Panamenista defector and former president Mireya Moscoso, announced her support for the Martinelli nominee,Domingo Arias, a move which had CD stalwarts predicting a flood of support for their candidate. A recent poll seems to indicate that the Arias support figures have stalled or peaked.
