Martinelli receives medal for defense of civil rights

PRESIDENT Ricardo Martinelli ,On Monday, May 26,  received a gold medal to add to his presidential memorabilia the at the start of a state visit to Spain.

 

The tour in the dying days of his administration. will include a lunch with King Juan Carlos and a meeting with Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy. It also included attendance in Lisbon, Portugal at the European soccer Championship final between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.

The medal was presented by the Forum de Alta Dirección. for his “defense of civil and professional rights in the field of enterprise and the promotion of relations between universities and civil society”
Martinelli arrived in Madrid Sunday accompanied by First Lady Marta Martinelli and ministers Francisco Álvarez De Soto and Lucy Molinar.
Panamanian diplomatic sources confirmed that, apart from receiving the award, Martinelli will, on Tuesday attend the signing of a collaborative agreement between his government and the Instituto Cervantes and the Spanish Royal Academy, reports La Prensa.
The agreement will be to put in place a range of joint actions that will promote the culture of Spain.
Instituto Cervantes, Director Victor García de la Concha and, Royal Academy Director José Manuel Blecua and Molinar, the minister of Education, will sign the agreement.
The next day, Martinelli will attend the luncheon with King Carlos and will also meet with Rajoy to review the state of bilateral relations.
After his stay in Spain, Martinelli will travel to Israel. He will leave office June 30..
