Martinelli denies contact with wanted Colombian spy chief

PRESIDENR Ricardo Martinelli said Saturday, June 14  that he has not had contact with former Colombian spy chief María del Pilar Hurtado, who is living under asylum in Panama.

Martinelli, through his Twitter account, said that he has not spoken to Hurtado and does not know where she lives.

"I haven't seen her or talked to her, and I don't know where she is," he wrote. "Please leave me out of this." reports La Prensa.
Martinelli was reacting to statements made by victims of the illegal wiretaps that were allegedly ordered by Hurtado. The victims arrived in Panama yesterday to demand her extradition. One of them, Colombian journalist Hollman Morris said he had information that Hurtado was living in a property of Martinelli.
"President Martinelli is mocking Colombian authorities by protecting Hurtado and avoiding sending her to our country to face justice," said Morris.
Martinelli spokesman Luis Eduardo Camacho, said that he would not comment on the allegations, saying the issue of asylum will be decided by the next government.
