Prosecutor to check PAN files to avoid deletion
PANAMA’S National Assistance Program (PAN) will be inspected by the third anti-corruption prosecutor, Lorena Lozano Coronel to avoid “loss, deletion or manipulation” of documents that are in the contracts department of the entity .
The action stems follows a recently filed a complaint with the Public Prosecutor by Deputy Jose Luis Varela Panameñista against Rafael Guardiathe last director of the PAN in the government of Ricardo Martinelli. Guaria is accused of crimes against the public administration.
Coronel wants to see contracts awarded to companies LSA 3D & HD & L Group, International Construction SA, HDEL Group International Construction SA, Construction Brithany SA Suplidora Osman, SA, Cincuentenario investments, SA, Corporación Vulcano, SA and Exalhe Group, SA, all supposedly related to misappropriation of public funds.
According to the complaint filed, these companies are linked to Heriberto Vega, Deputy Varela’s opponent in the elections of 2014 through the circuit 6-2 (Los Pozos, Pesé and Parita), in the province of Herrera.
In the evidence sought from the Ministry of Finance is a report of shipments of games to the Community Board Parita, Herrera, and a detailed report of payments made between November 2010 and January 2014 to companies under investigation.
Varela’s attorney, Erasmo Muñoz asked that the legal composition of the companies be revealed in the Public Registry.
He also asked the prosecutor to negotiate with the PAN, details of works assignments to Community Board Parita, well as a report of delivery of appliances, product type and brand, and the dates and activities during their distribution.
In addition, Muñoz asked to attach the file a series of reports published by FOX Report, TVN News and La Prensa.
In the lawsuit, the lawyer brings a letter sent by Varela on February 10 to the Comptroller General to reconsider the “contracts concluded by the National Assistance Program Investment companies Cinquantenaire SA and Suplidora Osman, SA, which amount to $6.5 million $ 29 million, respectively. “
