Save trees orotest against private school project
On Monday, August 5 private a group of residents of the Clayton area held a peaceful protest against the construction works of the British school King’s College.
The neighbors said that they decided to make the demonstration in defense of the forests that cover the area.
“We don’t want to lose more trees, we are without forests in the areas reserved by this school,” the residents said.
On March 22, former President Juan Carlos Varela was present along with the British ambassador to Panama, Damion Potter at the ceremonial turning of the first sod for the construction of the campus.
During the event, Varela mentioned that his government has been very interested in the development respecting the environment of the Clayton area, surrounded by tropical vegetation.
The administrative body of King’s College, meanwhile, announced that it has complied with and will continue to comply with all permits and processes to carry out this work, noting that Clayton residents can be sure that the school has been designed under the highest environmental conservation standards.
