Piracy on the High Seas in Playa Malena Panama South of Veraguas Province. 

A group of Panama fishermen experienced moments of terror at sea off Malena beach, south of the province of Veraguas, after being threatened with firearms and attacked by more than 10 individuals traveling in another vessel.  According to the victims, the assailants tried to board their boat to attack them with a machete. However, the fishermen managed to start the engine in time and flee the scene before the attack could be carried out.  Following the incident, the victims filed a formal complaint with the appropriate judicial authorities.
