Former Martinelli era big spender moves to jail

THE FORMER director of the National Assistance Program (PAN) Rafael Guardia has been transferred to , the new prison Gran Joya, located in Pacora.

Gran Joya while not quite the hell hole of La Joya will be a far cry from his luxury mansion complete with swimming pool and Jacuzzi in Costa Del Este, which he passed en route to his new residence.

The mansion has been taken over by the Anti-Corruption prosecutors.

The prison complex was built in an area of 35 hectares by the UM Consortium and consists of 24 sections, It is divided into maximum security, prosecuted, medium security and pre-liberty.

Guardia has been in a transitional cell at the Judicial Investigation HQ since November 17; under investigation for allegedly committing crimes against public administration.
The former official of the Ricardo Martinelli era has had at least $13 million seized from various bank accounts and several properties in del Rey, San Antonio, Costa del Este, San Francisco and an apartment in the Rivage building on Balboa Avenue, and a yacht valued at $ 400,000.
