OFF THE CUFF: Panama Comptroller hospitalized

PANAMA’S Comptroller General, Gioconda Torres de Bianchini, has been hospitalized after suffering ill health says  Juana Alcázar the head of public relations of the entity,.

According to the spokesperson the family of Torres de Bianchini will make statement on the state of health of the comptroller reports La Prensa.

“The recommendation of the doctors was to admit her,” said Alcázar.

It is the second time that the comptroller has been hospitalized for health problems during the last month previously she was admitted for a day.

Torres de Bianchini, a former Martinelli employee, has faced strong criticism from citizens’ groups and the National Assembly for here handling of overruns and approval of projects now under criminal investigation. Her successor is expected to carry out extensive audits during his first months in office
