Another former PAN boss facing corruption charges
ANOTHER HIGH PROFILE official from the Martinelli administration, allegedly involved in multi-million dolar scams, arrived on Wednesday, December 10 to be notified of corruption charges by the Second Anticorruption Prosecutor.
Giacomo Tamburrelli the former director of the National Assistance Program (PAN), , appeared with his lawyer . He had missed an earlier appointment with the prosecutor by producing a doctor’s certificate showing he had high blood pressure.
Tamburrelli has kept a low profile in recent months and the focus of attention has been on his successor ar Pan Rafael Guardia, who is also under investigation and is behind bars in La Gran Joy, jail.
Last week, prosecutors filed charges him for crimes against him for irregularities in contracts when he served as director of PAN.
The identified anomalies are about a contract that was given to the company Lerkshore International Limited for $45 million for the acquisition of dehydrated food.
According to preliminary investigations there were overruns on that purchase.
Tamburrelli said he has evidence to prove his innocence..
