Committee reviewing 59 complaints against judges

The National Assembly’s Credentials Committee will meet Wednesday, May 13 to review t 59 pending complaints against Panama judges.

The announcement came Tuesday, November 12 from Committee Vice President Katleen Levy, who is acting on behalf of Committee President Luis Barría, who is out of the country.
Levy said that the results will be sent to National Assembly President Adolfo Valderrama, who has called for a full judicial session to designate a prosecutor for the case involving Supreme Court Justice Victor Benavides.
The plenary must choose a member to act as a prosecutor in the case, as well as a three-member panel to serve as judges reports La Prensa.
The complaint against Benavides alleging the selling of judgments and pedophilia was admitted May 7.
