Martinelli, Obarrio ran spyware buy
PANAMANIAN FUGITIVE Adolfo Obarrio former private secretary of Ricardo Martinelli and his master were personally involved in the purchase of spying equipment from an Italian company through shell companies, according to a WikiLeaks report.
The WikiLeaks website reveals information about negotiations for the purchase of espionage platform Remote Control System (RCS), or Da Vinci from The Hacking Team.
In the post dated July 14, 2011, Hugo Ardila Colombia -of Robotec, the company that represents The Hacking Team for the sale of the equipment- sent a report after a working meeting, with the heading “here is the result of our conversation with the customer” … “We talked with Mr. Adolfo Obarrio, private secretary to the President of Panama (who was not at the dinner) who told us he was on the phone with his boss, while we were in the restaurant, he ordered him to stop any potential purchase until the problem is resolved tomorrow. “
This report can deduce that then president, Ricardo Martinelli, was well aware of the acquisition of spy equipment, to the point that he ordered the suspension of the purchase until a problem was resolved reports La Prensa.
That problem was apparently solved, because the equipment was purchased, through shell companies mainly registered in Belize and redirected through the Panamanian entrepreneur Teofilo Homsany.
The email message from Ardila’s ended suggesting tests with the program on BlackBerry phones, which apparently had some resistance to the spyware from the Italian company. He spoke specifically of the “mobiles” of customers (Ricardo Espinosa, Carlos Arjona and Adolfo de Obarrio) and other Panama goals”
De Obarrio’s boss [Martinelli] was aware of what was bought, to the point that by “cooperating” with the purchase, his own phone would be connected with the spyware WikiLeaks revealed.
