Auditors face lawyers for scandal contractors
AUDITORS of Panama’s Comptroller General who discovered “irregularities” in the sale of backpacks to the National Assistance Program (PAN) by two business owners were cross examined by lawyers for the owners on Monday July 27.
The sale of the backpacks resulted in damage to the state estimated at $5.7 million.
The owners, Poulet Morales and RuIzObregón have been detained since the beginning of June.
Also under investigation are former Minister of Education Lucy Molinar and former PAN directors Giacomo Tamburrelli and Rafael Guardia Jaén.
